Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Once we PCS to Fort Riley, the studio will be located in Manhattan, KS. The exact location is TBD as of right now. I will update as soon as I have more information.
What areas do you service?
If you live in Manhattan, Junction City, Fort Riley or any other nearby towns, definitely reach out!
I will also travel to Topeka, Salina and Kansas City for birth story clients with an additional travel fee.
How do I book a session?
It’s really easy to book a session with me! Just fill out the Session Inquiry Form, and I will get you all set up! A booking fee is required to schedule a consultation and then the remaining creative fee balance will be paid during your consultation.
How far ahead do I need to book?
I book typically 3-6 months ahead, and even sooner during the Christmas season. If you are expecting, I highly suggest booking as early as possible to ensure availability. I do maternity sessions between 28-36 weeks of pregnancy, and newborn sessions are best done when baby is between 4-14 days. Standard booking time frame is during your second trimester.
Who is your clientele?
My client can really be anyone, but specifically, its someone that’s looking for images they can love for generations. My services are not for people who want something quick and simple, they are for people who are enthusiastic about an in-depth process resulting in beautiful heirloom artwork.
What is your style like?
My style is very warm and rich, and stays true to natural tones and coloring.
What should we wear to our session?
More than any other question, my clients always ask me what they should wear to their session. Coordinating your family outfits can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! My goal is to create images where the background, clients, and clothing selections compliment each other instead of compete for attention.
I've put together some sample outfits on a Session Clothing Ideas Pinterest Board to help inspire you to create your own ensemble. If you’re stumped trying to coordinate your outfits, don’t worry! I am always here to help. I encourage my clients to text photos of potential outfits if they get stuck because ultimately its my job to know what looks best in images.
For images where mom is included, I also provide complimentary professional hair and makeup as well as access to my studio wardrobe.
Where does our session take place?
Newborn sessions are only ever done at the studio. This is because all of the props and lighting I use are just too big and bulky to take with me anywhere. It is also because sometimes babies pee and poop on things and I have to switch them out or change up what I am using for one reason or another. Family sessions are done almost exclusively on location. This can be anywhere in Pyeongtaek, Osan or Asan. The location we pick for your session will be unique to you and your family's style. Maternity, baby, and children sessions are done in studio or on location, depending on the look you want. Your session location is totally up to you, and I even offer the ability to do half studio and half on location.
Does the creative fee include any products or digitals?
The creative fee does not include any products. The creative fee covers my time, talent and expertise, an in-person design and planning consultation, the session, post-processing, travel time, and an in-person viewing & ordering appointment. All images and artwork are purchased separately.
What types of products do you offer?
I specialize in providing my clients with finished heirloom artwork. This comes in the form of several wall art options that can all be hung as soon as you receive them, and legacy albums that are beautiful enough to remain out on your coffee table all year round. I also offer smaller print collections as well. I pride myself on quality USA made products. All of my products are heirloom quality and are made to be passed down for generations. They also come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty, so if anything were ever to happen to them, all you would need to do is contact me and I will get started on the replacement process. I want you to love your artwork for years and year and not have to worry about it fading or falling apart. I invite you to set up an in person consultation so that you can view samples of all the products I offer and check out the amazing quality for yourself!
Do you offer digital files?
My goal is to encourage my clients towards tangible printed heirlooms, rather than having images live on a computer or hard drive. For this reason, the only digital format I offer is the matching high resolution file as well as a social media file counterpart for each image purchased as artwork. I also offer an online gallery where the images you purchased will be available for friends and family to purchase their own professional quality artwork for 90 days.
Do you offer any discounts? Payment plans?
I understand that custom photography is not cheap. For this reason, I do offer payment plans, interest free, for up to 4 months. Please ask for more details.
How long does a session last?
An outdoor/in studio session are 1 hour, a cake smash session is 90 minutes, and a newborn session is 2-4 hours. These times, however, are not set in stone and I will adjust accordingly to fit each client’s needs.
How many photos do we get in a session?
I will present 35-40 images in your viewing gallery at your ordering appointment. These are the images that have met my standards in the quality of images that I am capable of producing. A few of the images will be fully edited so that you can see what your finished images will look like. Once you decide which images you would like to purchase, then those images go into production to be fully edited before your artwork is ordered. Since images are purchased on an individual basis, there is no minimum number of images you must order, and in kind, there is no maximum either. Each client is able to purchase only the images they love and can’t bear to part with. I will say, though, I can almost bet you will love most, if not all of your images!
Can I keep the images from my session private?
All clients sign an optional model release before the session. If you would prefer to keep your images private, you may indicate your request at that time. For clients who choose to decline the model release, we absolutely respect your decision and will keep your images under lock and key.
What is your technique with kids?
If your babe likes to run around, so will I! It’s the best way to capture how they are! I use all kinds of techniques to get the littles to work with me such as peek-a-boo, singing songs, and making silly faces. I am not above jumping around like a crazy person to get your stubborn toddler to smile! The more I get everyone laughing, the more fun they have, and the more real connection and joy I get in the images.
How long does it take to receive our images?
Your in-person viewing and ordering appointment is usually scheduled for about 1 week after your session. Once your order is paid in full, it takes 4-6 weeks to get your artwork, depending on what you order. Once I have your full order quality-control inspected and packaged, I will contact you to set up a date for me to hand deliver your artwork right to your home.
Can we use the poses I found off pinterest during my session?
Pinterest is such a great place for inspiration! With boutique photography, though, I do enjoy creating unique to you images! I even strive to not create the same two images for different people. Part of you hiring me as your story teller is that I promise to create images that best show YOU off, and I do this on an individual basis based on each family's dynamic connection. This way, I produce images that are sincere and not contrived! You are welcome to show me your Pinterest inspirations, and together we will create a session all your own.
Hopefully I have answered all of your questions and eased any concerns!
